S I X || Make Up Must-Haves

I fully expected to write this post from a hotel room in Alabama, but thanks to flight delays I am happily perched in my parents' kitchen for the evening. One surprise night at home was such a blessing in the middle of what could have been a stressful situation. Today I have my first grad-school interview. Wish me luck and send a prayer my way!

Packing my make-up bag for this trip really showed me what my must-haves are in the make up department. I have much more than I actually wear, but these babies are my daily go-to. Check 'em out!

The Pur Mineral Start Now Kit
I love this stuff! Two Christmases ago I decided to shake up my foundation routine. I was tired of gloomy, thick liquid concealers and cover-ups, and that is when I stumbled into mineral make up. A sweet woman at Ulta helped me find my match. We tried Bare Minerals but none of their colors matched my fair skin, and next she turned to Pur Minerals. One try and I was sold! It is great coverage, light weight, and this STARTER KIT is all you need! I have the lightest option, Porcelain, but the Mineral Glow adds the subtle contouring I need to keep from glowing in the dark.

Redness Reducer & Color Correcting Primer
The above kit comes with a great basic primer, but if you're like me with a naturally rosy complexion (yet I still manage to be white as a sheet!), this Color Correcting Primer works wonders. It is a great neutralizer and so light weight. Sometimes I still use a moisturizer beforehand, but it is not always necessary. The green fades quickly and works as a great base for the above starter kit.

Too Faced Natural Eye Shadow Collection
I have been a big fan of the Too Faced Natural Eye Shadow Collection for quite some time. In high school I went through an Urban Decay phase but those harsh colors were a bit too much for my post-grad working-world transition. What I love about this pallet is it is the perfect nearly-naked neutral with a touch of shimmer. It is also a great collection for transitioning from day to night with its darker elements for a smokey eye.

Always Sharp Waterproof Liner
I go back and forth between liquid and pencil liners, and of the latter this is my favorite. No more worrying about that lost sharpener, it has a built in one! The Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner comes in a variety of colors, though I keep with my neutral pallet and use a brown shade, Sumatra. It is long lasting and definitely on my must-have list.

Mascara Mash Up
My favorite element and probably my most-used item falls under the mascara category. If I have time for nothing else in the morning, I grab my mascara and run out the door. This is why I typically end up with three half-empty tubes in my purse. For the most volume I use the Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara. My second favorite is Falsies by Maybelline (it has a much better price point and I can always run in to Walgreens and grab a new bottle).

Everyday Lip Lovin'
I'm a gloss girl. Always have been and always will be. The extra shine gives me a pep in my step, and it's such an easy add on. My daily go-to is the Pur Minerals Lip Gloss Stick. I've gone through two tubes with such frequent use that the label has completely disappeared. It was a challenge to go back in and find my favorite "flavor" or shade. Right now I'm leaning toward Berry Pretty. Top it off with a clear gloss and you're good to go.

Sephora Passion Red Lipstick
Oh girl, this is it. It has been on my to-do list to rock red lipstick more often. Last week was 3/5 working days so we're getting somewhere! I have tried many but the Sephora Rouge Cream lipstick in "The Red" and "Passion Red" are my favorites. I highly recommend them. Don't believe me, ask Victoria! She gave it a go and it looks stunning!

Pretty Please Pack Lightly
I am also notorious for finding a brush that I love and promptly losing it. This is why I have a hard time investing in brushes that I know I will lose. However, this summer I picked up a pretty pink travel case of brushes from Victoria's Secret (they were the signature pink and red stripes, not the one pictured below) and it goes with me everywhere. Blush, powder, shading, lining, it has it all. Isn't it too cute? And if anyone wants to send me the pretty pink matching travel case, I wouldn't say no ;)

I can't wait to read your suggestions! These are my staples but I'm always looking for a new add-in. And if you're looking for a great place to start, I hope you'll try these out! You won't regret it.
