The Beauty is in the Details {Spring/Summer Internship!}

You are looking at {well, reading the blog of...} Joyful Details Event Planning's spring/summer 2013 intern! I have been meaning to share this news on the blog since early December but never pressed the submit button. Silly me. But I could not be more excited to be assisting the sweet and incredibly talented Kristi starting in February. I met this Austin-based wedding planner/coordinator for coffee at the end of fall finals to pick her brain about the business and to see if I might be able to help, assist, or intern with her this coming spring. Within the hour she had shared her love of bringing the dreams of brides-to-be to life on their big day and offered me a spot helping to see those dreams happen {and by that I mean getting a glimpse into the business and helping her manage wedding day chaos circuses duties. I came across Joyful Details after falling in love with those beautiful details of a friend of a friend's wedding and I cannot wait to jump in and find myself full fledge in wedding season. In case you were wondering, it is just around the corner :)

The Post of Christmas Past {Life via Instagram}

Does it make me a Grinch (or rather a Scrooge) if I say I've never been a huge fan of A Christmas Carol? Maybe it's because my first introduction to it was A Flinstone Christmas Carol and it never really hit the spot. I haven't found a version I just love, but I'm open for the search next year :)

In other news, it's time for another round of life lately via instagram. This is a frequent and a favorite on this blog. Instagram was the first app I downloaded when I found my iPhone in my stocking last year and I use it multiple times a day. Doesn't everyone?

1. Mitchell-Man has taken over Mom's iPad. According to him it is now his and she simply borrows it from time to time. Kids these days have an understanding of technology to be rivaled by none. He blows my mind with how well he knows his way around a computer. And he's not even 10!

2.We had a white Christmas! It snowed here in North Texas and to be honest we didn't know how to handle it. No one believed me when I said the rain was turning to snow and then, BAM, a few hours later our yard was covered. I sported blue sequins and snow flurries to Christmas dinner and couldn't have been happier to do so.

3. Our tree-lined drive is rather bare this time of year, but with the falling snow it was gorgeous. I simply love this time of year.

4. My big Christmas gift this year was season tickets to Dallas Summer Musicals! Mom and I will be seeing The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Wicked, Sister Act: The Musical, Flashdance, Catch Me If You Can, and Priscilla. I am THRILLED!

5. "But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation." Psalm 13:5

6. I've downloaded several new apps for my iphone since Christmas and these are just a few of my favorites: Afterglow, Over, VSCO Cam, Phonto. Enjoy!

7. One of the joys and perils of working at Pier 1 is the employee discount. I hit up the local one before heading back to my apartment and snagged some precious woodland creatures during the After Christmas 50% off sale! Add another 25% off of that and I was a goner. Isn't this little guy cute?

8. Clear skies ahead but adventure is out there! Looking into 2013 I believe that ADVENTURE will be a word for the year! So many new things lie ahead and I cannot wait to begin this journey!

9. Another cutie found at the Christmas sale. I wonder what my roommates would think if they came back to find the apartment decorated for Christmas all over again...? No? Okay, fine.

What've you been up to lately?

All for Revolution! {or was it resolution? ...whatever it is, I'm with Aaron.}

Aaron Tveit. Need I say more? Alright, fine, I will. This beautiful man has played many a leading lad on Broadway and he has most recently won the hearts (including mine) of those who have ventured to the movies in the past week to see Les Miserables. Although I am deep in the world of theatre, I knew very little about this musical except that it was indeed a musical and that it was about the French revolution. Otherwise, zip. Nothing. Nil.

Then we began hearing about the movie and I became incredibly excited to see some of my favorites in action: Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, and even Hugh Jackman. I'll go more in-depth about this movie (believe me, you'll get an earful) but I was altogether quite pleased! It is long, so be prepared, but  a masterpiece. Stunning performances by almost all and our boy Aaron (can't he be mine?) will convince you to join him in the fight for certain.

As far as resolutions go, this new year I've come up with a few of my own, as per usual. Any of them match your list?

New Year's Resolutions
-work out regularly (Pointedly did not put a # of times per week... didn't work so well last year)
-be healthier (eat better, live right, stress less, etc)
-read 2+ books per month
-try new foods (I'm quite the chicken when it comes to this... and I usually stick with chicken.)
-drink more water
-save $2,000 by graduation
-spend less/find a budget plan that works
-learn to do calligraphy
-become better at photography (Got a brand new lens I'm eager to try out!)
-make my bed daily (With as many pillows as I have, this is a chore.)
-keep up with Project Life
-become more socially and politically aware (I'm in the dark more than I'd like to admit.)
-update this lovely little blog regularly (again, at the moment a # per week is daunting...)
-take more care in what I wear & shop my closet
-intentional, refreshing time with at least 2 people per week
-take a road trip somewhere random
-simplify life

And last but certainly not least, something to live by no matter what time of year:
"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."
Romans 12: 10-1
