April Showers: What I'm Loving

In all the craziness of last week, I missed the link up over at Michaela Noelle Designs for She Loves Me/She Loves Me Not. I've always been a fan of that series and wanted to do something similar. So I am returning to an old favorite from a previous blog of mine called What I'm Loving. Every other week I will share with you a few things I'm loving. This has always served as a good reminder for me to think on those little joys in life, be they mine or others'. The things that make me smile have a way of turning my day around, and maybe they'll add a little color to yours too.

1. Christmas lights.

I am a firm believer that Christmas lights can and should be used all year round. They add a touch of whimsy and elegance to any room, if used well. I love seeing them used in the theatre and we made great use of them decorating for Winter Banquet as well as incorporating them into scenes. I have dozens of boxes of them that are going to be used in the living room and in my room next year.

2. Instagram Crafts!

I am a HUGE fan of Instagram. I instagram all the time. (Can I mention I love that instagram has become a verb?) The filters are so fun and it has a great sharing function to keep connected with what friends are doing via their pictures. Pinterest is loaded with Instagram crafts, ways to turn these nifty square pictures into practical household objects or decorations. I have been working on a large collage of instagrams from Quartet with Grand Piano that I'm hoping to print this summer, and I definitely think some instagram coasters will grace my coffee table soon.

3. Katie Daisy Products & Prints

This post could easily be called "Things That Make Me Smile" and Katie Daisy's prints would be at the top of that list. They are so colorful and whimsical, full of inspirational thoughts and quotes. You can find something for everyone in her etsy shop.

4. Anthropologie Displays

I told my best friend last week that one of my dream jobs is to be a display coordinator for Anthropologie. Their stores and windows are always so inventive and unique, made from vintage and recycled items. Have you seen their earth day collection of displays? Check out their facebook page and be prepared for your mind to explode at the creativity and beauty! I was in awe and spent half my time in the store last week admiring and figuring out their displays. So stunning.

5. Colorful Garlands

Smile and Wave has been one of my favorite blogs over the past year and the above garland is her beautiful creation. I have been searching garland ideas for a bridal shower I'm planning and I now know that I want to incorporate them into my home decor next year. They're simple, festive, and typically pretty cheap. Be on the look out for a DIY soon.

6. Wedding/Proposal Videos on Vimeo

I am obsessed. I love being filled with joy every time I watch a wedding or proposal video on Vimeo. This one in particular came across my tumblr feed last week and it brought tears to my eyes. So thoughtful and so fun. I love seeing guys get creative in their proposals (and thinking to have someone film it!) and watching as a girl's dreams come true. So sweet. It is a must watch.
